Karaoke Challenge: "My Favorite Things"

Blog Post created by eric on Apr 5, 2019

Calling all poets, lyricists, singers, and Jullie Andrews impersonators:

It's spring, and the hills are alive... with innovation!

Next week at 3:00 PM PDT, DIGFM is having a meeting on Our Favorite Things.

Of course, this possessed me to parody a several lines of a tune you're not going to get out of your head if you read much further:

[verse]

Innovate super-great apps for the workplace,

Using a platform that ranks by far first place,

Suddenly you can develop with wings.

These are a few of my favorite things...

[verse]

Find, sort, and export all field combinations,

Timesavers sparing programming frustrations,

Shortcuts that keep my mouse arm out of slings.

These are a few of my favorite things...

[verse]

Product enhancements and CEOs listening,

ERD graphics and layouts so glistening,

Whenever Zabbix successfully pings.

These are a few of my favorite things...

[hook]

When the boss bites,

When constraints sting,

When I'm feeling stressed,

I simply remember my FileMaker things

And then I just feel so blessed.

[verse]

Webviewers jumping with JavaScript widgets,

Calculate Pi past mere four hundred digits,

Processing two hundred megabyte strings.

These are a few of my favorite things...

So I was just putting this out here to see how fanatical things get. Turns out, it was mostly me.

First: Consider joining us in-person or online Thursday 4/11/2019 at 3:00 PM to share or listen to some favorite features, development examples, or FMI company changes that reshape how we innovate for the workplace. Details here:

DIGFM: My Favorite Things (4/11/2019; Santa Clara, CA)

Second: Can you add more and better verses, or improve existing lyrics to this song in the comments below?

Original lyrics are here: https://www.google.com/search?q=my+favorite+things+lyrics

(Note: I didn't really write about my favorite things, I just rhymed a few things I looked at recently.)

Rule #1: You have to hyperlink your lyrics to related articles or posts.
Rule #2: Pay careful attention to the lyrics meter.

Third: Dare you record yourself (or a hireling) singing your verses and the "When..." hook?

Here's some music to sing to unless you find something better for everyone to sing to:

My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music - Instrumental Lyrics_xvid.mkv - YouTube

Note: If you sing with the music playing only in your headphones, we can add the music back along with any others who might record their singing. Feel free to send what you record. But beware of drinking alone. If anything comes of this, we're sharing it next Thursday.
